The New Orleans Jazz Band is Back at Tavira Garden on Saturday 1 April at 6 pm. After 2 sell-out concerts, I am delighted that the band returns to Tavira for what could become a new regular slot. The New Orleans Jazz Band was formed in 1998 by a group of international jazz musicians, all now living in the Algarve. They performed at the 1999 Loulé International Jazz Festival and since then NOJB has become the busiest band in the Algarve. The current line-up is Ray Charsley (trumpet/vocals), Dave Lawson (clarinet/saxophones), John Ballinger (trombone/vocals), Cory Sea (guitar), Luís Hilário (double bass) and Tony Scriven (drums/leader/vocals). The band plays a mixture of blues, stomps, marches, spirituals and ragtime. Great music for dancing! They will be playing 3 x 50 minute sets all for the price of €10. On sale will be a range of tapas (which need to be pre-ordered) and a fully stocked bar. Don´t forget to bring your decorated umbrellas for the now famous Umbrella Parade. A prize for the winner.
