Gile Bae was born in the Netherlands and began piano lessons with Roderigo Robles de Medina at the age of 5. At the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, she completed her young talent class lessons with Marlies van Gent. In September 2010 Gile was admitted to Incontri col Maestro di Imola at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale. Gile has also attended master classes with innumerable maestros.
In 2000, she won first prize in her age category at the international Steinway piano competition. She won second prize in the EPTA international competition in Belgium and also in the 2008 Maria Campina International Piano Competition in Portugal. In December 2008, she took first prize for her age group in the national competition and was nominated for the national finals. In April 2010 she won the first prize in the highest category at the international Steinway piano competition, and represented the Netherlands at the international Steinway festival 2010 in Hamburg. In 2010, she took first prize at Haarlem and second prize at the national finals of the Princess Christina competition. In October, 2010 she again won the first prize in her age category in the competition for young Netherlands musical talent, and qualified as a finalist.
At the age of six, Gile performed Haydn's Concerto in C, and with the Camerata Amsterdam she performed Mozart's piano concerto K246, and with the Athenaeum Chamber Orchestra in November 2009 she played Mozart´s piano concerto K414. In April 2010 she performed Grieg's piano concerto with the Youth Orchestra.
Gile has played a number of times on Netherlands radio, including a performance in the Mirror Hall in Amsterdam, and for Radio Netherlands world service. On Netherlands television, she has performed at the Prinsengracht concert. She has given many concerts in the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and others in the Diligentia Theatre for the Council of State, the Lucent Danstheather and the Anton Philipszaal. Abroad, she has performed in Italy (Pine, Bardonecchia), the Czech Republic (Prague), Germany (Berlin and Hamburg), Switzerland (Lucerne) and South Korea (Seoul).
For this afternoon recital, Gile will be playing music by Couperin, Schumann, Chopin, and Brahms.
