Starting at 18h30 on Saturday 31 October, the Casa do Povo will host an evening of great music and fine dining. Guitarist and singer Sue King will be starting off the fun-packed evening in her own inimitable style. Sue King is a folk/country/ballad singer who also plays guitar, bazouki and banjo. She sometimes performs with other accompanying musicians - for example Tavira's own Josué Nunes played with Sue in concert last year at Santa Ana chapel in Tavira - but at this performance she will be accompanying herself on her guitar. Her repertoire is broad, with the emphasis on "good songs", including well-known ballads as well as a selection of up-tempo "oldies" from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Sue is a regular visitor to Tavira, and frequently performs in the South West of England, and makes performance tours in Germany and at folk festivals in the U.K. She has been a performer all her life, and loves to engage with her audience, including the dangerous concept of "does anyone have a request?" Sue has made several CDs, of ballads, country music, folk songs and some classical music too - but her favourite music is Irish Folk, and 60s songs.

Later in the evening there is a revisit to the Casa do Povo of the fabulous New Orleans Jazz Band. The Band was formed in 1998 by a group of international jazz musicians, all now resident in the Algarve. The Band performed at the 1999 Loulé International Jazz Festival and since then it has become the busiest band in the Algarve. The current line up of the Band is Ray Charsley (trumpet/vocals), Dave Lawson (clarinet/saxophones), John Ballinger (trombone/ vocals), Cory Sea (guitar), Luís Hilário (double bass) and Tony Scriven (leader/percussion/ vocals). The Band plays a mixture of blues, stomps, marches, spirituals and ragtime. Great music for dancing!

Entry for the concerts costs €10 for non-members of Casa do Povo and €6 for members. There is an optional 3 course meal - either meat or fish with full table service for €16.
