A talk by Matthijs Warner
Matthijs Warner will show examples of art from modern and contemporary artists and he will speak about the relationship between art and spirituality, the spiritual quest of artists and their search for harmony. He will then discuss the non-dual wisdom of Advaita Vedanta, a means of self knowledge sourced in the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita. In one way this talk is a personal view on art and spirituality, and on the other hand the view of the thousands of years old knowledge of the Vedas. Matthijs Warner was born in the Netherlands and he moved to Portugal in 2007. He studied at the Academy of Art in Arnhem, Netherlands and has studied and practised Buddhism in Germany and France. He has undertaken several philosophy courses at university level. and has studied Advaita Vedanta, Panchadasi (Vedanta) teaching in Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India. He has worked as an independent visual artist; as editor of modern and contemporary art for a large art platform, and is co-owner of Art gallery Casa 5 in Tavira.
