The St Petersburg House of Music brings to Portugal some of its finest students for concerts in Porto, Lisbon and at the Regional Conservatório in Faro. Their final concert in Portugal before they return to Russia will be at Quintinha da Música near Tavira. Elizaveta Ivanova (piano) and Vitaliy Vatulya (saxophone) will present works by Brahms, Rachmaninov, Haydn, Chopin, Debussy and Martin. The six pieces from the Rachmaninov´s Romance were also arranged for saxophone by Vitaliy Vatulya.
Vitaliy Vatulya was born in 1987 in Moscow. He started his music education at the Children’s Music School № 3 in Simferopol in the Crimea and finished with honours at the Schnittke Music College of the Moscow State Music Institute (under Professor Yuriy Vorontsov), and in 2014 he completed his post graduate studies at the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music under Professor Margarita Shaposhnikova. In international competitions, he has won 8 Laureates and he plays leading saxophone in the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the Pavel Slobodkin Centre.
He has performed throughout Europe and he recorded his first CD in 2007. He has participated in masterclasses with such outstanding saxophone players as Claude Delangle, Jean Denis Michat, Arno Bornkamp and Kenneth Tse, and is equally at home with classical music and modern jazz . Vitaliy has been with the St Petersburg House of Music since 2010.
Elizaveta Ivanova was born in Moscow on 1986. She started her piano studies at the age of four at Yakov Flier Music School in Moscow with N. Dolenko, after which she took her Diploma with Honour from Music School of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (under A. Dzhangvaladze and O. Mechetina). Elizaveta has performed in all parts of Russia and many parts of the world (Austria, Australia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Serbia, United Kingdom, Ukraine and Uzbekistan). She has participated in master-classes with E.Ax, S. Babayan, D. Bashkirov, A. Cohen, P. Donohoe, A. Ebi, G. Fergus-Tompson, N. Fisher, A. Golovine, R. Levin, O. Mustonen, D. Paperno, A. Sandler, T. Sarkissova, and Fou T’song. She also plays in chamber ensembles and as a harpsichord player.
Elizaveta´s repertoire includes music from the baroque period to the 21st century, and she has performed on the stages of many of the world´s famous concert halls, such as: the Great, Small and Rachmaninov Halls of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Svetlanov and Chamber Halls of Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, the Great Hall of the Ukrainian State Philharmonic Society in Kyiv, the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, the George Weston Recital Hall of Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Salle Cortot in Paris, the Teatro Ristori in Verona, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, and many others. Elizaveta has been at the St Petersburg House of Music since 2009. The concert will be performed in the presence of the Cultural Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Lisbon.
The concert at Quintinha da Música is on Saturday 3 October at 17h00. Tickets are €20.
